21 years to launch

by Fred S.

I met Jesus Christ in 1994. A few years after that I decided to believe in Jesus as my Savior. It led me to purchase a domain name in March 2000, to spread the Gospel around the world. The website you’re on now is using the domain name I purchased back then. I pondered about designing the website then but have been only renewing the domain name every year without knowing what content to use.

In the fall of 2015, my wife, Kelly, and I moved to Turkey and I began studying theology. When I moved from Turkey to Greece in early 2019, I met many Afghan and Iranian refugees in Athens. These were diaspora who stayed in Greece for a while in order to someday travel further into Western Europe. While in Athens, the refugees would attend church, listen to the Gospel, and receive Jesus. However, what these refugees really needed was a leader who spoke their language, understood their culture and understood suffering like the refugees.

In Athens, we started the Koinonia Education Center, which offers education for the refugees. I rented the basement of a church in Athens and started my first semester in January 2020 with four Middle Eastern seminary students. In order to start this program, we paid the students’ tuition and the office with our own money. But soon after launching the program, God provided our much-needed sponsors and materials for our students and school.

In the third semester in February 2021, eight Afghan and Iranian students from Greece, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Afghanistan, and England are now studying theology. Currently, there are many things that they need. But one thing I desire is for these students to share their stories of God who is living in them to the world. These students are  Persian-speaking from an Islamic world but now living in a completely foreign country. Life is challenging and the journey thus far has been incredibly lonely. I hope to be a brother to the refugees that I get to share. They need to experience fellowship in Christ in order to strengthen their faith and give hope for their future.

This is the website I started to help shine a light on these refugees. The domain is “jesusischrist.com.” One good thing is, in order to visit this website, we have to type on the keyboard that ‘Jesus is Christ.’ Hopefully, today will be a day of grace to confess that Jesus is your Savior.
