Afghan Christian Ladies Bible Study Meetings

by Seddiqa E.

This meeting is an Afghan Christian Ladies Group Meeting that occurs once every two weeks on Weekends. It is underground, so I refuse where it takes place because of the group protection. Its goal is to grow in faith in Jesus Christ. It has been started on February 13 for the first fellowship and will be continued.

There are 5 ladies (including me) and four kids (including mine) who get together at the same place each time. Four ladies are already Christians but one is a seeker and interested to know Christ.

In this gathering, there are two different programs that occur each time, the children’s program, and the ladies’ Bible study. The children’s occurs in the morning and takes two hours, and the women’s meeting in the afternoon after lunch. So altogether, the children and the women programs take whole day’s long. There is not focus on the Children’s programs in this post in order to avoid confusing readers.

The women’s program starts with prayer, and worship songs then study the predetermined Scriptures to discuss, and the meeting ends with all members’ prayers. It takes more than two hours in the afternoon. In ladies’ meeting, according to requirements for each meeting and the purpose that every person benefits from it, each session contains two topics.

At first, if there is a testimony to be shared, it will be shared for all to motivate each other to get stronger in faith and to get more hope and grace, and to encourage one another and especially the one who is seeking God. (it takes about 10-15 minutes). Then the basic study of the Christian faith discussed by the leader of the group and other believer’s comments. Its purpose is to make clear Christianity for the seeker lady. (it takes 30 minutes.)

It is planned to study and discuss the Gospels, so it is started from the Gospel of Matthew. One chapter of the Gospel is studied each session (it takes 1-1.5 hours).

As two sessions are done, the first two chapters of the Gospel of Matthew have been studied and discussed. In the following, it will be included the outline of the topics which were discussed in the last session (2nd meeting that happened on Feb 28.) If you would like to continue to read, please click the link.
